HENDERSONVILLE, TENNESSEE, 9/10/19 — Eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson and fifteen-time Grammy winner and 2018 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Ricky Skaggs along with his band, Kentucky Thunder, will headline an October 1 concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the City of Hendersonville.

The Hendersonville Hometown Jam is presented by Whiskey Jam, one of the longest running and most popular musical events held in Nashville’s Mid-Town area every Monday and Thursday.

Other entertainers in the lineup include the Del McCoury Band, Eddy Raven, Frank Myers, Tim Watson, Josh Mirenda, and Natalie Stovall.

Hendersonville Mayor Jamie Clary said of the event and the artists playing, “Celebrating with local artists is fitting because the music industry brought many people to Hendersonville. During Hendersonville’s early years, we were the fastest growing city in the nation and known as ‘Home of the Stars. I am excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary with music and to invite people from all around us. Events like this remind everybody how exceptional Hendersonville is.”

The free concert will start at 6:00 p.m. at Hendersonville’s Drakes Creek Park. The show will close with a fireworks display. A family fun zone, along with food and beverage vendors will be on site. A limited number of event sponsorship packages and vendor locations are available. Contact Andy Gilley at agilley@hvilletn.org for information. Gilley said about the event, “The city of Hendersonville has long been known for two things: Our wonderful neighbors who have been responsible for some of the greatest music of all time and our outstanding Parks System. It is an honor to play a small role in helping bring these two things together to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our city. I can’t say enough about how gracious all these artists, many of whom are icons of the industry, are to be coming to our city to give back. To have Whiskey Jam and the credibility that that Franchise brings to any musical event as a partner makes it even that much more special.”

Whiskey Jam’s Ward Guenther will serve as the emcee and host for the evening. It will be the first Whiskey Jam event in the city of Hendersonville, after having seen the show travel this year from its Mid-town Nashville home to Bonnaroo, The Windy City Smokeout in Chicago and to the Flora Bama in Orange Beach. "Whiskey Jam is built on a solid foundation of community and support. When our family relocated to Hendersonville in 2016, I felt that same warmth of community in the schools, churches & local businesses. It's been a goal of mine to introduce this staple of Music City to the welcoming community of Hendersonville, so we're really looking forward to this inaugural event."

It’s just what we do in here,” said Hendersonville Alderman Scott Sprouse, an event organizer. “I’m especially thankful to see honor being paid to Hank Cochran, who lived in Hendersonville for many years, and the work his family is doing to help fight a horrible disease.”
