Ricky Skaggs to head BrightStone’s 13th Annual Songwriters Night “Music That Touches the Heart”

FRANKLIN, TN—BrightStone’s 13th annual “Music That Touches the Heart” benefit will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Liberty Hall at the Factory in Franklin.  BrightStone is excited to announce that Ricky Skaggs will headline the event, and will be joined by additional local songwriter friends and performers to round out the musical evening.

“Music That Touches the Heart” is a yearly benefit that features outstanding performers in an intimate setting.  Funds raised from the evening support BrightStone’s adults who live each day with developmental disabilities.  “Through the years, BrightStone has been blessed with incredible community support,” stated Brenda Hauk, BrightStone Executive Director.  “We are thrilled that Ricky Skaggs will share his time and talent, and bring his friends, to provide a magical night of music to benefit BrightStone.”

With 12 #1 hit singles, 14 GRAMMY® Awards, eleven IBMA Awards, eight ACM Awards and eight CMA Awards (including Entertainer of the Year), Ricky Skaggs is truly a pioneer of Bluegrass and Country music.  Skaggs has released more than 30 albums and has performed thousands of live shows.  Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, continue to keep the tour trail red hot, performing more than 80 live dates each year.  He started his own record label, Skaggs Family Records, in 1997 and has since released 12 consecutive GRAMMY®-nominated albums, eight of which went on to win the revered award.  And the Grand Ole Opry member has released his first-ever autobiography, "Kentucky Traveler."  The book details the life and times of Skaggs and provides a descriptive history of Country and Bluegrass music, as told by the master himself.

Tickets for “Music That Touches the Heart” are $150 per person; tables of eight can be purchased for $1,200.  Patron tables are available for $3,000 and Sponsor tables are available for $6,000.  The evening will include dinner, an evening of music featuring Ricky Skaggs and friends, and a silent auction.  Reservations can be made online at brightstone.org, by phone (615) 790-4888, and through the mail (P.O.
